穂高神社奥宮　例大祭・慰霊祭

先日2024年10月8日（火）明神池穂高神社奥宮にて、一年に一度の「穂高神社奥宮 例大祭・慰霊祭」が執り行われました。

例大祭は通称「お船祭り」とも呼ばれ、山の恩恵と安全を祈願して御船神事が行われます。
水を渡るのに最も速いとされる龍と、風に堪えるのに最も強く妖気を払うとされる鷁（げき、想像上の水鳥のこと）のそれぞれの首をつけた2艘の船が明神池に浮かびます。

船には平安時代の衣装に身を包んだ神職の方々が乗り、雅楽の調べの中厳かな雰囲気で池を一周します。
しとしとと降る雨の中、厳かに例大祭が執り行われました。

御船神事のあと、「日本アルプス山岳遭難者慰霊祭」が行われました。
明神池のある穂高神社奥宮は日本アルプス総鎮守として崇められているため、日本アルプスで遭難された方のご遺族の方々とともに、山の安全を祈って行われます。

穂高神社奥宮での例大祭・慰霊祭は、毎年10月8日午前11時から行われます。

Yesterday, on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, the annual “Hotaka Shrine Okumiya Grand Festival and Memorial Service” was held at Myojin Pond, Hotaka Shrine’s Okumiya.

The Grand Festival, also known as the “Boat Festival,” includes a boat ritual to pray for the blessings and safety of the mountains.
Two boats float on Myojin Pond, one with the head of a dragon, known for being the fastest to cross water, and the other with the head of a mythical waterbird called “Geki,” believed to be strong against the wind and able to dispel evil spirits.

After the boat ritual, the “Memorial Service for Mountaineering Victims in the Japanese Alps” was held.

Since Hotaka Shrine’s Okumiya, located at Myojin Pond, is revered as the guardian of the Japanese Alps, the memorial service is held to pray for mountain safety, together with the families of those who lost their lives in the Japanese Alps.

The Grand Festival and Memorial Service at Hotaka Shrine’s Okumiya are held every year on October 8 at 11 a.m. If you’re interested, please come and visit the Boat Festival in the coming years.
