Current Kamikochi Conditions (Myojin Area) as of April 14
Snow removal has progressed along the Azusa River’s left bank trail, making it passable on foot. However, due to the blizzard on April 15–16, a significant amount of snow has accumulated again on the cleared trails.
A check this morning confirmed that paths are frozen, so it’s best to wait until the temperature rises and the snow starts to melt before you head out for a walk.

You can enjoy a unique sight right now, as the summit of Mt. Myojindake is covered with freshly fallen snow—scenery you can only see at this time of year.

You may have seen this in recent news. The “Shimashima Myojin Route,” a hiking trail connecting the Shimashima area of Matsumoto City Azumi through Tokugo Pass to the Northern Alps Kamikochi and Myojin, is currently closed due to a major landslide.
Please rest assured that the trail from Kamikochi to Myojin has been maintained and remains accessible.
